Inhabitants of the Threshold - Origin
This collection brings together a series of visual narratives that lurk in the territory where reality decays and imagination fails. Its characters emerge from memory, a nightmare you cannot close, dreams, the last refuge of the coward, nostalgia, poison sweetened by time, and the deepest human impulses, which are nothing more than instincts of repetition and self-destruction. They are figures that exist between worlds: between reason, which always loses, and instinct, which always wins; between light, a fleeting illusion, and shadow, which is the only permanent thing; between what was lived and no longer exists, and what is imagined and will never exist.
Throughout these works appear kings without a kingdom with empty crowns consumed by the glory of lost times, explorers of hidden darkness who only found more darkness, extraordinary creatures that no one will see, misunderstood dreamers because their dreams were worth nothing, and beings marked by the condemnation of needing others for love, melancholy and desire. Each work features a unique story and shares a common quest: to understand emotions, tyrannies disguised as feelings; contradictions, the only proof that we exist; and mysteries that are never solved, and that are part of that cruel joke we call the human experience.
The scenes move between the fantastic, the symbolic, and the everyday. In them, memories come to life, but a deformed and putrid life; dreams defy logic because they do not have the strength to defy reality; and the briefest moments acquire a ridiculous importance, as if a second could redeem a life that has no redemption. Imagination becomes a bridge between the visible and the invisible, revealing what often remains hidden beneath the surface of reality and should remain hidden.
